Victory

2180 miles ended with a monsoon on the mountain . The summit storm dropped an inch of water in one hour.  The thunder rolled but the lightening ruled. The sun finally broke thru and I was able to climb off the mountain safety, cold, wet ,tired and contented

Mile 1949

I hiked from 6 am till noon in pouring rain. Only managed 8 miles. Slick underfoot , many steep ups and downs. The sun came out.& I changed into dry clothes, wrung out my wet clothes &  laid them on a rock to dry in the sun while I had lunch.& After eating I slept til 2 p the trail & my clothes seemed dry enough so I hiked 5 more miles. Found a good tent spot just before the rain. I start tomorrow 235 miles to go

Maine

Last state . 1902 miles done , 282 left. today was the first day I needed to stow my trekking poles, climbs  required my full attention. Tomorrow's hike in mahoosuc notch is described by AWOL as Most difficult. or fun on the A.T. I met a north bounder who had dislocated his shoulder in the noch, came back down to gorham to heal. One of every 3 southbounders have some abrasion  to their legs , some scratches from thorns.  But mostly from rocks,
FUN!  FUN!  FUN!
