Cold feet

I finally got a chance to cool my feet
It was only after I got them dried off and warmed up again,
I thought about the photograph. it gets cold very quickly

Everything's dry

But it looks like its gonna rain hard

Monday night keith and mark join me on the trail

Lastnight After we hiked, they collected firewood so I could dry my clothes before it rains again. they stayed to swap stories by the campfire. it was nice to have company, and beer!
Its 645 AM now, I can't believe the hunters haven't come creeping around.
I'm going to make breakfast and start my commute. if I want a newspaper it will add 10 miles to my day

Better than nothing

If I can get a campfire started have enough wood for the night ill be all set

Karen dropped me at trailhead friday afternoon
Since then I've lived exclusively out of my backpack
Temperature is finally cool enough to want a jacket
But I smell so bad I just want to air out

Comfortable night for hiking 1 fleece was too much for the hike up the hill to skytop. but I'm not at all cold waiting here for keith. it's been dark since 5 pm no pictures to post just the weather report

Gain weight

In the next 4 months I need to gain 15 or 20 pounds I am often  eating two breakfast 2 lunches and more beer then I should drink. today after making a big breakfast I made a turkey soup. from last night turkey dinner, 2 loaves of bread and baked chicken breast.
I will also reduce the number of miles I walk each  week to 50

Halfway between mariposa and morgan hill state park on the corner of route 13 and morgan hill road Reakes country store has something for everyone. pickled everything from food to furniture hot and cold cider. And the folks here are real nice to hikers

Still raining

So it's still raining on and off the waterways are so swollen the sound permeate through the entire woods

More walking

I had no connection at this location all night I plan to walk a mile up the hill to my last known coverage area could there be sunshine in my future

Breakfast consisted of turkish coffee m r e pop tart vitamins and plenty of water my clothing is still hanging to dry from 2 nights ago cold wet rain for the whole weekend

Extended tour

I took a couple of detours yesterday. including this scenic path down irish hollow. the lighting was bad for photographs but I increase the distance between a lien two's by 5 miles. so my total miles hike sunday was 21 miles. I walked slowly and took many breaks it took just under9 hours

North country trail

I'm in my sleeping bag somewhere on the north country trail. chris brought me to trailhead we met keith and mark and hiked to the Hemlock Shelter. The Lean Too was filled with suny students we hiked another mile towards mariposa state park. the guys helped me set up camp now they have gone home and I am  laying in my hammock in the morning I will continue hiking to paradise garden lean to approximately 20 miles from here I hope I sleep good I'm going to need to be the 100 percent tomorrow

Monday hike

No car default to south campus not warm not sunny good moving weather 6 pm and I walked 16 miles already today and the wind is picking up then I am cold

Starting on shackham rd. across the street from the pond up the hill to the hanglide launch then on to Tinker falls and drive back to shackham.

Friday night hike

630 pm and I have 9 miles on my pedometer I hope to walk 9 more miles tonight

Karen bought cantelope at the market on saturday. I plan to dry fruit  every week until my departure then have Karen send monthly mail drops

Tinker falls

645 trails are mostly dry hiked in at the base of the falls climbed up the stream to behind the falls then up and over the ridge. we pressed on passed shakham road and up to the hemlock creek shelter. by 845 we needed headlamps. on our way back we chose shack ham road to 91 to make the last 2 miles easier. total distance for this hike was 8 miles. I walked 14 miles today before tinker falls that makes my personal total 4 today 22 miles
