Rattlesnake

I just had my first encounter with a rattlesnake just north of paul c. shelter. the snake was just off the trail on the left side I must of hit in with my tracking poll. he did not strike but he was angry. I hiked 15 miles before 1 o'clock today, from now on I'm moving slowly

Strong wind

The wind is moving so quickly through the mountains notch, 1 minute you're in the fogbank in the next minute its clear. I can hardly keep my feet planted on the ground

Cold day in the mountains

Yesterday I spent a warm day in town. After hiking through 2 days of cold rain everything I had was wet.
So far I've only walk 15 miles today, I may only do a couple more.

Dragon's tooth

I'm approaching the monolith called dragons tooth. 4 miles of steady climbing. yesterday's ridgewalk was miles with no shade and no water. I feel a little washed out. I hope I can get to shelter before the thunderstorms this evening.

New rule 12 miles before noon 25 by the end of the day. my feet don't like the new rule but as long as I have duct tape I will continue to waddell. I expect to be in virginia sometime tomorrow where I will pick up more duct tape
